3D Object Photography

Sculptures, design objects, antiques, museum collections and other items

Items photographed on a plain background (white or grey) using a portable studio setup

I can also photograph items on location in a range of different spaces and environments

Items photographed at my home must be smaller than 40x40x40cm

Institutional rate: £600 (full day) / £340 (half day)

Individual rate: £30 per item (1st image) + £20 per extra image of each item

Post-production work (for institutions and individuals): £30 / hour

Photoshop cut-outs (for individuals): £10 - £15 per image depending on complexity

Setup fee: £50 (required for individuals when I bring my equipment to your studio or another hired space)

2D Artwork & Document Digitisation

Paintings, prints, drawings, textiles, documents, photographs

Straight, flat copies of 2D items for reproduction online, in books and other printed materials

Artworks can be photographed framed or unframed (additional cropping may be required for framed works)

Items photographed at my home must be smaller than 60x90cm

I can also photograph items on location in a range of different spaces and environments

Additional Fees

Studio and Equipment Hire

I own a range of professional equipment including a Canon 5D Mark IV DSLR and PixaPro studio lighting, which is suitable for the vast majority of photography requests I receive. In a small number of situations, I might suggest hiring equipment if you require services that go beyond the capabilities of my equipment. This would always be discussed and agreed before we go ahead with a photography session.

I charge any equipment hiring costs (including insurance for hired equipment) at cost value, in addition to all other rates.

I can photograph small items for individuals at my home. Alternatively, we can discuss setting up my equipment in your studio or workspace, providing it is suitable and there is sufficient space for photography. If none of these options are possible, we can look at hiring a photography studio.

I charge any studio hiring costs at cost value, in addition to all other rates.

Post-Production Work

Some basic edits are included in my standard rates for photography (for example, colour correction and basic cropping).

More detailed work (including Photoshop cut-outs, retouching or repair work) is subject to an additional rate for post-production of £30 / hour.

Travel and Accommodation

There may be travel and accommodation fees to pay for jobs outside of Edinburgh, depending on the circumstances of each job, the distance and the time involved. Accommodation may need to be paid for up-front or booked separately by the client or commissioner.

Wherever possible, I travel by public transport. Any train, bus and taxi fares are charged at cost value.

If I am driving, I charge a flat rate for mileage of £0.50 / mile for all journeys more than a 15-mile radius from my home in Edinburgh.

Delivery Fees

Images via WeTransfer: free of charge

Images on DVD-R: £10 per disc

Images on USB flash drive: costs vary depending on storage capacity

First-class, signed for postage must also be covered for USB and DVD-R deliveries

Terms and Conditions

I use the terms and conditions provided by the Association of Photographers as a guide. I can provide a copy of this along with my quote or estimate.

Please contact me to discuss any changes to these standard terms and conditions if you require them.

Any changes must be agreed upon in writing before the commencement of a photography commission.
